“Joseph” and His Coat of Many Colours Premiering at the Spectacular Sight and Sound Theatre
5 Days September 13 - 17, 2010
Of all the characters in the Bible, perhaps Joseph is the best parallel to the character of Jesus that can be found. During a time of an "eye-for-an-eye and a tooth-for-a-tooth" mentality, Joseph’s story of forgiveness and integrity has made this Bible story a timeless truth, inspiring generations of men and women to walk uprightly in the midst of great temptation. Join us as we travel to Lancaster PA for the Premier presentation of Joseph!
Day 1 - Lewisburg, PA
Enjoy a relaxing day as we travel to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. We overnight in the Best Western Country Cupboard Inn.
Day 2 - Lancaster, PA
We depart on a scenic drive along the Susquehanna River, past the capital city of Harrisburg and on to East Earl where we enjoy an elaborate all you can eat buffet at Shady Maples. You will have some free time to shop in their marketplace.
Later we make our way to the Living Waters Theatre in Lancaster for "Psalms of David" a tuneful tribute to the heart and journeys of the psalmist King. This musical spectacular is filled with captivating songs, imaginative dancing, live musicians, and story-like vignettes bringing the psalms to life! Later, we check into our hotel, set in the midst of the Rockvale Outlets, for the next three nights.
Day 3 - Lancaster, PA
We start our day with a Behind the Scenes tour of the Millennium Theatre. This is an opportunity to see the tremendous amount of preparation that goes into each Sight and Sound presentation! Next we are off to the Freedom Chapel Theatre for a delicious lunch and the presentation "Marriage, There's Nothing Like It" - A musical comedy about a married couple, Cilly and Claude, who surprisingly announce they are getting a divorce during a 50th anniversary party. Their son Sonny and his wife are forced to evaluate their own marriage as well as their parents. This amusing look at the institution of marriage provides insight in to the comment, "Marriage, there's nothing like It!"
This afternoon we spend some free time browsing through the shops at Kitchen Kettle Village. Tonight you may want to do some shopping in the adjacent Outlet Mall.
Day 4 - Home
This morning a local guide joins us for a countryside tour. A special stop will be made at a local farm. Lunch will be an all you can eat buffet at Hershey Farm Restaurant. This afternoon we make our way to the Sight and Sound Theatre for the premiere presentation of "Joseph". Experience a cast of 45 professional adult and children actors and dozens of live animals gracing the aisles. Inspired by Joseph’s colorful coat, a brilliant color scheme has been woven into every fabric of this production including the music, the costumes, the lights, the special effects, sets, and more. Witness several amazing dream sequences including Joseph in his colorful coat "flying" over the audience, and larger-than-life staging which includes a spectacular Egyptian palace scene spanning 300 feet and wrapping around three sides of the audience, plus, twenty original songs. We return to our hotel for the night feeling energized and renewed by the character of Joseph!
