Multi-Day Vacations

Appalachian Adventure featuring Billy Graham Library
Highlighting Biltmore Estate and the breathtaking Blue Ridge Parkway

6 Days   August 30 - September 4, 2010

Day 1 – Cincinnati, OH
We board our Ayr Coach Lines motor coach and head south, crossing the border into the US. Our overnight will be in Cincinnati.

Day 2 – Asheville, NC
Continuing south, we cross the Ohio River into the State of Kentucky and on into Tennessee. Our first stop will be at the Museum of Appalachia, a Living Mountain Village.

On a tour of the Museum's grounds and collections, you look straight into the heart of the Appalachian culture. Local musicians will entertain us with some authentic old-time music as we enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. Later, our journey takes us through the Cherokee National Forest skirting the Great Smoky Mountains on our way to Asheville, our home for the night.

Day 3 – Charlotte NC
It will be a casual start to our morning as we tour the famous Biltmore House. You will be inspired by the relaxed elegance of George and Edith Vanderbilt's 250-room family home and country retreat. On your audio tour, discover original art from masters such as Renoir, magnificent 16th-century tapestries, Napoleon's chess set, the library and a Banquet Hall with a 70-foot ceiling. Frederick Law Olmsted, the creator of New York’s Central Park, designed the magnificent grounds of the estate. We have lunch in the Deerpark Restaurant before continuing to Charlotte, North Carolina for the next two nights.

Day 4 – Charlotte, NC
This morning we board the Catawaba Queen, a replica of Mississippi Riverboat, for a sightseeing cruise on Lake Norman. Later we visit the Billy Graham Library. A Journey of Faith allows you to retrace Graham’s dynamic journey through stunning multimedia presentations, interactive kiosks, photos, and memorabilia. Tour the home Billy Graham lived in from age nine until he left for college. Meticulously restored using 80 percent of the original materials, it will give you an intimate look at Billy Graham’s roots. In Ruth’s Attic, you can purchase gifts, Bibles, and Christian classics, including books written by Graham family members. We return to our hotel for the night.

Day 5 – Hagerstown, MD
Get your cameras ready, for today we experience the incredible scenery of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We join the parkway at Fancy Gap, just north of Charlotte and travel a portion of this 500 mile long drive that follows the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains through North Carolina and Virginia. There will be a number of picture stops along the route. This evening we overnight in Hagerstown.

Day 6 – Home
After breakfast we board our coach and head north through the states of Pennsylvania and New York on our return journey.
