The Land of the 1000 Islands Kingston & Gananoque
2 Days July 5 - 6, 2010
Day 1 – Kingston, ON
Today we travel along the historic "Loyalist Parkway". It follows the course of the Loyalist settlement, which commenced in 1784 following the American Revolution. A special lunch is planned for you at Isaiah Tubbs Resort. A stop will be made at the spectacular "Lake on the Mountain", before boarding a small ferry that will take us across a portion of the Bay of Quinte and on to Kingston. We check into the beautiful Best Western Fireside Inn – with a fireplace in every room!
This evening we will be guests of the Commandant at a special "Barracks Banquet" at Old Fort Henry. Let the servers take you back in time about 100 years! Not only will they tell stories and anecdotes related to Fort Henry but they also have a few surprises in store! We return to the hotel for the night.
Day 2 – Home
Enjoy a full buffet breakfast before our guided tour exploring Kingston’s historic past. Affectionately known as the Limestone City, Kingston is noted for its handsome 19th-century limestone architecture and was once the capital of the United Provinces of Canada. Later we follow the 1000 Islands parkway along the majestic St. Lawrence River to Gananoque, the "Gateway to the 1000 Islands". We enjoy a delicious buffet lunch before setting sail on a relaxing 2.5-hour cruise through Islands ranging in size from a rocky outcrop to Heart Island, home to the magnificent Boldt Castle. After the cruise, we depart for home.
