Coastal Maine & Boston Salt Spray, Crashing Surf & Spectacular Scenery
7 Days May 17 - 23, 2010
Day 1 - Sherbrooke, QC
We depart Ontario for our first overnight in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Tonight we stay at the Comfort Inn Rock Forest. Dinner is included this evening.
Day 2 - Belfast., ME
Following breakfast we board our coach for our journey to our next "port of call", Belfast Maine. Formerly a prosperous shipbuilding center, it is a community resplendent with restored Federal and early Victorian homes built by former sea merchants and where generations of lobstermen work the same waters their forefathers did. We will have a two night stay in this quaint Maine City at the Comfort Inn Oceans Edge, where every room has a view of beautiful Penobscot Bay.
Day 3 - Belfast ME
Today we travel to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. People have been drawn to the rugged coast of Maine throughout history. Awed by its beauty and diversity, early 20th-century visionaries donated the land that became Acadia National Park. See all the natural wonders of this Maine treasure. Viewing stops will be made at the Peak of Cadillac Mountain, the tallest mountain on the U.S. Atlantic coast, offering spectacular vistas of Frenchman’s Bay. View the breathtaking rocky cliffs of Otter Point , Sieur de Mont Springs and crashing Thunder Hole where at high tide the surf races into a naturally carved inlet and explodes as high as 40 feet with a thunderous roar. We return to our hotel for the night.
Day 4 - Ogunquit, ME
Today we depart Belfast for Ogunquit, Maine. On route we will see beautiful scenery and visit some interesting coastal villages before arriving in Portland, the state’s largest city. Rich in maritime history, the city thrives in a harmonious blend of seascape and cityscapes. This afternoon we enjoy a relaxing harbour cruise on Casco Bay.
Our accommodation tonight is at the Ogunquit River Inn & Suites overlooking the Ogunquit River and the Ocean. The bordering Wildlife Refuge attracts Ducks, Seabirds, Deer and other wildlife adding an extra dimension to our stay. Dinner is included this evening.
Day 5 - Boston, MA
Following breakfast we travel to Portsmouth NH. Settled in 1623, Portsmouth claims to be the nation's third-oldest city. We continue our travels to the City of Boston. A guided tour will highlight sights that have made Boston one of the most historically important cities in America. This evening we will attend the hilarious Dinner Theatre presentation of Shear Madness. We overnight at the Hampton Inn Boston/Braintree.
Day 6 - Albany, NY
This morning you will have some free time to enjoy the famous Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall. For over 250 years, the marketplace has played an integral role in the life of Boston's residents. After lunch, we begin our journey north to the city of Albany, Capital of New York State for our overnight stay at the Comfort Inn & Suites.
Day 7 - Home
Following Breakfast we start our journey home to Ontario after a memorable visit to Maine's Rocky Coast.
