Gettysburg Apple Blossom Festival Enjoy the fragrance of thousands of blossoms Gettysburg, PA
4 Days May 1 - 4, 2010
Day 1 - Gettysburg, PA
When you think of spring, you think of blossoms! Enjoy the signs of spring as we travel south through the state of Pennsylvania to Gettysburg, where we spend the next three nights. Accommodation will be at the Quality Inn.
Day 2 - Gettysburg, PA
Today we take part in the festivities of the Annual Apple Blossom Festival. Watch as top quality homemade arts & crafts dealers demonstrate their fine work, enjoy entertainment such as the Carroll County Cloggers and of course we can’t forget the scrumptious food! After lunch we visit Knouse Fruitland’s historic Round Barn Farmers Market. Built in 1914, it is one of only a handful of round barns that survive today. Next we learn about the orchards and fruit growing on a wagon ride at Hollabaugh Brothers Fruit Farm and see the educational bee room, designed to help teach you what it's like to be in agriculture in the 21st century! Watch the bees at work in the special observation beehives.
After a busy day, you will be ready to relax over a delicious dinner at the Historic Dobbin House Tavern. Built in 1776, it is the oldest building in Gettysburg. Enjoy a family style meal in a restored 190-year-old barn.
Day 3 Gettysburg
Our day starts with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. This morning we explore a number of historic properties accompanied by a period costumed guide. Our first stop will be at the Bechtel Victorian Mansion, then on to the Chesnut Hall, and the adjacent Barker House, circa 1796. Lunch will be at the historic Altland House Restaurant before we move on to our final tour, the Beechmont Inn. On completion you will receive a goodie bag containing sweet treats and apple recipes.
This afternoon there’s a whimsical world of wonder just waiting for you to discover at the famous Boyd’s Bear Country. Offering over 70,000 teddy bears and gift items, there’s bound to be something for everyone! The balance of the day is at your leisure to take in some of the other attractions of historic Gettysburg.
Day 4 - Home
We say farewell to Gettysburg and make our way back home.
